Porsche 911 and 718 with center lock wheels: do not drive until checked

Porsche has expanded an earlier recall to 548 more 2024 sports cars with center lock wheels. The central wheel bolt may fracture and the wheel can come off, so owners are told not to drive the cars until a dealer inspects them.

Which cars are affected

Certain 2024 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS, 718 Spyder RS, 911 Turbo, 911 Turbo S, 911 S/T, 911 GT3, 911 GT3 RS and 911 Carrera GTS with center lock wheels. The recall (NHTSA 26V682, Porsche ATA1) was filed on October 16, 2026 and expands the earlier recall 24V809.

What can go wrong

The center lock wheel bolt may break. If it does, the wheel can detach while driving, which can cause a loss of control.

What owners should do

  1. Do not drive the car until it has been checked. Ask the dealer about collection or transport.
  2. Check your VIN at NHTSA.gov/recalls; VINs became searchable on October 20, 2026.
  3. Dealers will inspect the center lock fastening system and replace incorrectly made parts free of charge.
  4. Owner letters are expected December 15, 2026. Porsche customer service: 1-800-767-7243.

Do not drive warnings are rare: NHTSA uses them only when the risk is high enough that the car should stay parked until repaired.
