Used EVs now sell faster than gas cars, and cost more
An iSeeCars study of more than 1.5 million used vehicles found that in September 2026 the average used EV sold for $32,533, up 9.8% from $29,637 a year earlier. Used hybrids rose 4.9% to $34,476, while gas vehicles rose just 0.3% to $31,954. A year ago a used EV was on average $2,227 cheaper than a gas car; now it is $579 more expensive. Used EVs also sold faster: 41.9 days on average, against 54.8 days for gas vehicles, whose selling time grew by almost 20%. iSeeCars analyst Karl Brauer links the shift to higher fuel prices and a rebound in demand after federal EV incentives ended last year. Electrek reports that among the quickest sellers were the Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron (29.8 days), Toyota bZ4X, Lexus RZ, Honda Prologue and Polestar 2.

What it means for owners: the bargain used EV is getting harder to find, but if you own one, it may be worth more at trade in than you think. Pennsylvania funds 515 public charging ports around Philadelphia
PennDOT has awarded $37 million in federal NEVI money for 515 public charging ports in Philadelphia and Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties, many of them at the curb. PennDOT says public charging in the region will grow 27%, and 53% in Philadelphia itself. The awards include 157 on-street Level 2 ports across 13 Philadelphia neighborhoods and 54 DC fast charging ports at 11 Philadelphia Parking Authority lots. Projects go through environmental review from November to January, with agreements signed in early 2027 and construction after that. Pennsylvania has built 54 NEVI-funded stations so far, more than any other state.
What it means for owners: curbside chargers matter most to drivers who cannot charge at home. Public charging usually costs more per mile than charging at home; our guide on EV charging cost shows how to compare.
Kia posts its best October, led by electrified models
Kia America sold 80,008 vehicles in October, up 16% from a year earlier and a record for the month, Electrek reports. Sales of its electrified and hybrid models set records too. The EV9 was up 111% and the EV6 up 58% for the month, and the Telluride up 63%. The new 2027 EV3, which went on sale in mid-August, is now at dealers across the country; Kia sold 1,496 in its first two months. It starts at $29,890 plus a $1,495 delivery fee, with up to 221 miles of range, or up to 321 miles with the larger battery.
What it means for owners: strong demand means fewer discounts on the most popular models. Compare the out the door price, not only the sticker, at more than one dealer.
